ATC Board of Directors

The Alexandria Transit Company is a non-profit corporation organized under Chapter 1, Title 13.1 of the Code of Virginia, for the purpose of providing mass transportation services as a public service corporation. The entire capital stock of the corporation – seven shares at a par value of $1.00 a share – is owned by the City of Alexandria.

ATC is governed by a nine member Board elected annually by the Alexandria City Council, acting in the capacity of the sole stockholders. Members of the Board of Directors serve without compensation. Regular monthly Board meetings are normally held the second Wednesday of every month at Alexandria’s City Hall, 301 King Street, City Council Workroom on the second floor, at 5:30 p.m., unless otherwise posted.

ATC operates under the direction of its Chief Executive Officer and General Manager, Josh Baker. Mr. Baker is the principal staff advisor to the Board on transit matters.

2017 Transit Development Program (TDP): The TDP serves both as a means of presenting the General Manager's recommendations with regard to the annual program to the Board of Directors and as a means of documenting the annual program approved by the Board of Directors.

ATC Board of Directors Meeting Dates

Regular public meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at Alexandria’s City Hall, 301 King Street, City Council Workroom 2410 at 5:30 p.m. There are no meetings held in July and August.

    NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING
    The Annual Meeting of the stockholders will be held on March 14, 2017 at 6:45 p.m. at City Hall for the following purposes and to review the following items:

                        1. Election of the Board of Directors
                        2. Selection of an independent outside auditor
                        3. Update on the DASH Bus Real Time Bus Information System
                        4. Such other business as may come before the meeting

    MEMORANDUM for the Honorable Mayor and Members of City Council. 
    There are 9 members of the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors presents the following slate of nominees for election. The term will be for one year.

    OUTSIDE AUDITOR 
    By agreement with the City of Alexandria, ATC accounts are maintained by the City’s Department of Finance and are audited as a part of the City’s annual audit. If the City’s outside auditor is also ATC’s outside auditor, the ATC audit can be done without duplication of effort or cost. It is therefore recommended that the City’s outside auditor, currently Clifton Larson Allen, be designated ATC’s outside auditor.

    PUBLIC HEARING & BOARD MEETING: 

    ALEXANDRIA TRANSIT COMPANY A public hearing on the 2018 ATC Transit Development Plan will be held on April 12, 2017 at 5:30 P. M. Alexandria City Hall, City Council Workroom 2410: 301 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. No significant changes in current service are contemplated in the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018.     Comments on the Draft 2018 Transit Development Plan (TDP) are welcome at the public hearing.
