Alexandria Transit Company (DASH) has an exciting opportunity for anyone with a passion for public transit to become more involved in the community. We are seeking applicants to join the Alexandria Transit Company Board of Directors.

Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible by completing an online Board Application. Applications will be accepted until close of business on April 17, 2020.

Candidates do not need prior experiences in public transit or management. The Board continuously strives to reflect the diversity and vibrance of Alexandria and its riders. The Board will examine a number of factors including but not limited to applicants’  work background, years of residency in the City of Alexandria, past and present community service, civic groups, boards and commissions, their interest in and use of public transit, and any unique skills or perspectives they may bring to the board. The area of the city in which they reside with respect to present board members will also be considered.

The Board of Directors meets regularly on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Alexandria City Hall. Meeting duration is usually one to two hours. Board members may also need to attend select evening meetings, such as budget or City Council, or a public hearing on routes, schedules or fares. Board members occasionally serve on city committees and task forces related to transportation. There may also be an opportunity for the selectee to serve as the ATC's representative on the Alexandria Transportation Commission.

For questions related to the Alexandria Transit Company Board of Directors or for assistance with applying, please contact the ATC Board Secretary Kelly McGarey at kelly.mcgarey@alexandriava.gov or 703.746.5637.
