DASH Announces 2025 Pride Bus & WorldPride Participation

May 23, 2025

The Alexandria Transit Company (DASH) is proud to unveil its 2025 Pride Bus, our second consecutive wrapped bus dedicated to celebrating Pride Month and honoring the LGBTQIA+ community. Designed as a moving tribute to inclusion, the Pride Bus will be in service throughout June and beyond, showcasing DASH’s ongoing commitment to creating welcoming spaces for all.

The 2025 Pride Bus embodies Alexandria’s inclusive spirit and will play a central role in representing the City and the Northern Virginia region on a global stage during the 2025 WorldPride celebrations.

As part of the festivities, DASH, alongside representatives from the City of Alexandria and broader Northern Virginia region, will proudly march with DASH’s 2025 Pride Bus in the WorldPride Parade on June 7. Two of DASH’s King Street Trolleys will also be featured, transporting and marching with the Capital Pride Alliance’s Honorary Co-Chairs and their special guests.

In collaboration with Capital Pride Alliance, DASH will also have a bus stationed at the WorldPride Street Festival, June 7-8, to serve as a cooling station, providing relief for the millions of visitors expected during the event.

“At DASH, we believe in creating spaces, mobile or otherwise, where everyone feels welcome and is encouraged to be their best, truest selves,” said DASH CEO & General Manager Josh Baker. “We’re incredibly proud to be able to join forces with the City of Alexandria and the larger DC metropolitan community to honor LGBTQIA+ individuals and families in this historic and global celebration of Pride.”

Alexandria has long been recognized as a safe and welcoming city for the LGBTQIA+ community. The city’s commitment to equality was recently reaffirmed in the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) 2024 Municipality Equality Index, where Alexandria received a perfect score for the fifth year in a row. This recognition highlights Alexandria’s continued efforts to foster a diverse and inclusive environment that prioritizes the well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals.

“Earning a perfect score on the HRC’s Municipality Equality Index for five years in a row is a clear sign of how committed we are to creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all LGBTQIA+ individuals,” added Alexandria Mayor Alyia Gaskins. “DASH’s involvement in WorldPride is a fantastic reminder of our city’s dedication to inclusion and acceptance, and we’re proud to make it known that everyone who lives, works, or visits here is valued and celebrated for who they are.”

Alexandria is rolling out a host of special offerings for visitors during this year’s WorldPride celebrations and beyond. These events will continue throughout June, allowing both local residents and visitors to enjoy a Pride-filled experience.

“We are excited to welcome the LGBTQIA+ community to Alexandria before, during, and after WorldPride 2025,” said Visit Alexandria President & CEO Todd O’Leary. “You can feel Alexandria’s inclusive spirit as you enjoy our independent restaurants and boutiques, art and history sites, waterfront experiences and vibrant neighborhoods. We can’t wait to show the world what makes Alexandria a special place to visit, stay, and explore.”
