DASH service routes may be adjusted to accommodate inclement weather. These adjustments allow us to maintain safe and reliable service while balancing the need for caution as weather and road conditions change.
These detours may be implemented on a route-by-route basis, based on local road conditions. Please follow us on social media for the most up-to-date information.
Inclement weather can be any kind of weather condition that makes it unsafe or impractical to travel, commute or work outdoors. This can include precipitation such as rain, sleet, snow or hail, or other potentially hazardous conditions such as extreme temperatures, high winds, or dangerous storms such as tornadoes or hurricanes.
In the event of inclement weather, DASH has seven winter weather detour areas across the city. These detours impact the areas around the following streets or neighborhoods in Alexandria:
During winter weather events, DASH encourages passengers to travel only when necessary. Passengers are reminded to use caution when entering and exiting buses and at bus stops as walkways and sidewalks may not be cleared of snow and ice.
Routes and schedules may be adjusted or suspended for the safety of our passengers and operators as changing weather conditions are monitored.
